Hey! Hey! Easy on yourself!

“Charger. Pay bill. Check post its. Buy sweetener. Charger. Pay bill. Check post its. Buy sweetener…” This is the kind of stuff I usually tell myself in bed every night. You know how people reflect on their lives (or just their days) during those 10-15 minutes before going into deep sleep? Well, I don’t. I can’t recall myself ever thinking about anything before sleep, but tomorrow. It’s probably due to the simple fact that without planning, I might and probably will, non-affordably, lose a day.

We humans, just like organizations, strive for continuous improvement in a pretty fast-paced environment. We wanna achieve ultimate productivity without wasting a bit of resource, especially time, THE nonrenewable of them all. We constantly push ourselves to do things better and quicker! Eventually leaving so little room for ourselves to shut anything down, specifically our brains.

But when planning turns into a burden in itself, if it becomes an independent task requiring its own slot and reminders, then it’s right about time for us to take a break, and remind ourselves that IT’S OKAY!

Today, I challenge you to challenge yourself! Allow yourself a spontaneous sleep on the couch, skipping the nightly facial routine. Reschedule one of the many unnecessary meetings and go swimming instead. Why wait for your birthday to treat yourself to a Thai massage? Book one now! Take a midnight drive and forget about the hours of sleep left. Break the habit of perfectionism before it breaks you!

Not everything happening in our days should either be urgent, important, or both. Don’t guilt-murder yourself for few hours spent on something worth little compared to all the “important stuff” you could’ve done. Stop pushing yourself so much and take it easy on yourself!

WE SAID THIS: SO TRUE, IF ONLY WE COULD FOLLOW YOUR ADVICE!
