If you’ve been waiting for your sign to get into art, this might just be it. Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is officially calling on young creatives to step forward, launching a brand-new youth development programme as the museum gears up for its opening later this year.
What Is Contemporary Makers?
The free programme, Contemporary Makers, is open to UAE citizens and residents aged 18 to 25, and it’s not your average workshop series. Think hands-on creativity, real mentorship, and a chance to tap into the region’s evolving art scene. The programme will run in three cohorts: spring, summer, and autumn, each exploring a different theme.

More Than Just Workshops
Kicking things off, the spring cohort dives into ceramics, running from April 13 to June 4 at Make Abu Dhabi, with weekly Thursday sessions from 5 to 7 pm.
Across each cohort, participants will explore the relationship between museums, art, and society today, all while building their own creative skills and getting a foot in the cultural world. And the best part? No prior art experience is needed.

Built for the Next Generation
Developed in collaboration with Make and Swalif Collective, the programme is all about learning by doing, with artist-led sessions designed to spark ideas, collaboration, and confidence.

A Glimpse Into What’s Coming
All of this comes as Guggenheim Abu Dhabi edges closer to opening its doors on Saadiyat Island, where it’s set to become a major hub for modern and contemporary art, spotlighting voices from West Asia, North Africa, South Asia, and beyond.
With Guggenheim Abu Dhabi opening on the horizon, Contemporary Makers feels like more than just a programme; it’s a stepping stone into the region’s creative future. For young artists looking to experiment, connect, and get inspired, it’s time to sign up, grab your tools, and get creating. This is one opportunity you don’t want to miss.
