‘Damascus’ stands as the fourth track shared from the group’s ninth studio album, The Mountain, which is due on 27 February 2026 via the band’s own new label, KONG.
The bilingual single was recorded across Damascus, London, Devon, Mumbai, and New York, and features Syrian artist Omar Souleyman and NYC rapper and singer Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def), both of whom are credited as songwriters alongside Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn.
Last September, they premiered ‘Damascus’ live at Brian Eno’s Together for Palestine event at OVO Arena Wembley, where the beloved “cartoon band” was joined on stage by the London Arab Orchestra.
Gorillaz have been vocal about their political beliefs and solidarity with Palestine since 2010, having previously displayed the Palestinian flag at their shows and released limited-edition t-shirts, with all profits directed to Palestinian humanitarian efforts. They have also canceled shows in Israel in protest.
