Former Miss Lebanon Runner-up Michele Hajal Passes Away After Her Battle With Cancer

The third runner up in Miss Lebanon 2016, Michele Hajal, passed away on Monday at the age of 25 after a tough battle with cancer. Hajal was diagnosed last year with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a cancer that affects the immune system.

Her treatment failed to bring results at first, so she started a campaign called #FightWithMichele to raise $750,000 to travel and get treated abroad. The campaign was a success and people helped her travel to the MD Anderson Cancer Centre in Texas to receive treatment for two months.

2018. What a year!? I fought cancer twice. The second time was the worst because I had only one option for the treatment. The treatment was at the US and costed $750,000.? Thanks to YOU I was able to raise the money and travel to Houston. After two months of pain and stress, I am in complete remission now. Thank you God, St Charbel, family, friends and every person who prayed for me. I deeply believe now that PRAYERS DO MIRACLES❤️??! After her treatment in the US, she announced in January that her cancer was cured. She kept making motivational posts to inspire, support, and encourage other cancer patients. Unfortunately, the disease found its way back into her body, and she passed away on Monday, the 17th of June.
