• Despite her limited presence so far in 2013, Lady Gaga topped this year’s Forbes Most Powerful Musicians list, with Beyoncé and Madonna in second and third places.
• Jay Z released this week the tracklist and lyrics of upcoming album Magna Carta Holy Grail by posting clues to a scavenger hunt throughout New York. The album apparently features lyrics from Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit and REM’s Losing My Religion because… his point is that nothing is holy anymore?
• In boy band news, Aaron Carter was reportedly beaten up by some very passionate New Kids on the Block fans before a show last Sunday in Boston. And yet the most surprising thing about this is that Aaron Carter is still performing.
• This week’s new videos include offerings by Bloc Party, MIA, Hurts, Duck Sauce, The Pixies and this one by Yeah Yeah Yeahs, filmed on top of the Empire State Building:
• Also new this week is the video for Benny Benassi track Dance the Pain Away, featuring John Legend:
• Empire of the Sun have signed on to score the upcoming sequel to Dumb and Dumber. The movie will star original cast Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, and will be released next year.
• The 1975 have revealed the tracklist and artwork of their upcoming self-titled debut album, which will be released in September. The band has already released four EPs and three charting singles since 2012.
• After announcing the release date for upcoming album Nothing Was the Same and releasing four new songs last week, Drake posted a trailer to promote the new album last Sunday. The video features his reaction after receiving his Best Rap Album Grammy for Take Care.
• And Soundgarden bassist and songwriter Ben Shepherd is releasing his debut solo album Deep Owl in August as HBS, representing his full name Hunter Benedict Shepherd. Excellent first single Baron Robber is already out.
