The First SeaWorld Outside of the US Is Opening in Abu Dhabi Without Orcas
SeaWorld is known for its iconic Orca whales but in recent times the park has come under fire from animal activists for its unethical breeding program. Despite a decline in visitors and jobs across its 12 parks in the United States, the brand is opening its first one outside of the country in 2022, next stop Abu Dhabi…with no Orcas.
This new destination will add to Miral’s Yas Island portfolio that includes four themed parks already -Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld, and also opening by 2018 will be Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi and Clymb
Yas Island proclaimed its position as a global tourism destination, as Miral chairman Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubark said. “This announcement reflects the emirate’s ambition to create a sustainable, diversified economy, with tourism as one of its core pillars.”
SeaWorld Abu Dhabi’s research, rescue, rehabilitation and return centre, planned to be opened ahead of the marine life theme park, will provide an important resource for UAE nationals and residents.
Miral CEO Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi described the project as unique, bold, and ambitious; strengthening Yas Island as one of the greatest tourist attractions and destinations.
