After being set to speak in two conferences in Canada, pro-Palestine activist Rima Hassan’s entry access got revoked.
Who is Rima Hassan?
Born a Palestinian refugee camp in Syria, the Palestinian-French Member of the European Parliament (MEP) is one of the activists who participated in the 2025 Sumood Flotilla to Gaza.
A Political Mark
She is a prominent pro-Palestine activist, as well as founder of the independent NGO Observatory of Refugee Camps and member of the left-wing political party La France Insoumise.

Flotilla Contributions
She joined both the Freedom Flotilla and Global Sumud Flotilla to break the blockade on Gaza, joining other prominent activists.

Crimes by Israel
After being detained for boarding the flotilla, she was held in solitary confinement and allegedly beaten by Israeli police. She refused voluntary deportation and went on a hunger strike.
Canada Access
Her access to Canada was revoked on Friday after being set to speak up for Palestine at two conferences. NDP MP Alexandre Boulerice described it as “political punishment.”
