Egypt’s Electricity Prices to Hike by 26% This July!

The Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Shaker, announced the new electricity prices starting on 1st of July, in an official press conference. Egyptians are expected to pay up to 20.9% rise in a household, and factories are expected to pay up to 41.8% rise.

For the Sixth year in a row, the government has increased electricity prices in all consumption brackets in a plan to eliminate subsidies completely by the fiscal year 2020-21. These rises will be determined by the amount of energy consumed.

Egyptians aren’t only expected to pay more for electricity, there is also an expected rise in fuel regarding cuts to fuel subsidies in the upcoming FY.
