MP Ahmed Badawy, Head of the Communications and Information Technology Committee in the Egyptian Parliament, announced that Egypt will begin to block electronic betting applications within days, most notably ‘1xBet’.
Badawy explained that the blocked platforms are never making a comeback, according to a new legislation that is currently being drafted, which includes deterrent penalties for using online betting applications, in order to ensure the closure of any loopholes that allowed their spread in the past.

He emphasized that every electronic platform operating in Egypt must have an accredited legal representative, ensuring there is a clear point of reference who can be held legally accountable in the event of violations. This measure aims to strengthen digital oversight and protect society from the growing risks posed by online platforms.
