We always hear of superstars like Amr Diab or Mai Omar attaining the…drum roll…Golden Visa. A type of visa that sounds so elusive, magical, exclusive; the conceived notion of it only being granted to celebrities makes one imagine it to be the golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. However, it turns out the Golden Visa offers a host of opportunities for…people; ranging from almost a period of five to ten years of residency and then following that by getting automatically renewed to allowing foreigners to live, work, and study in the UAE without being dependent on a national sponsor. Though the Golden Visa had already provided many great advantages, its latest additions are quite noteworthy. Here’s what we’ve found out.
With the Golden Visa heavily relying on providing security for the people that are granted it, the recent announcement made by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai who spearheads the UAE Cabinet, aims to create more creative opportunities for people on their way to attaining it.
So with this upgrade, who really can get the visa? There are ten different types of categories; from real estate investors all the way to the Golden Visa for exceptional talents, the new expansion doesn’t leave out anyone. With a special focus on start-ups and businesses, creating flexible requirements for them to be able to easily obtain the Golden Visa, “The new system of entry and residence aims at attracting and retaining global talents and skilled workers from all over the world, boosting the competitiveness and flexibility of the job market and fostering a high sense of stability among UAE residents and families,” according to a statement provided by the UAE.
“Entrepreneurs or startup owners who obtain approval for a startup idea from an official business incubator, from the Ministry of Economy, or from a competent local authority will be deemed eligible to obtain the Golden Residence in this category.”
