Dubai is set to introduce Elon Musk’s underground transit system known as the Dubai Loop as early as 2026, according to statements by the UAE’s AI Minister in an interview with Bloomberg. The project is being developed in partnership between Dubai’s authorities and Musk’s The Boring Company, with plans for an initial 17-kilometer tunnel network.

High-Speed Travel Beneath the City
The proposed system is expected to carry up to 20,000 passengers per hour, providing a rapid, climate-controlled alternative beneath Dubai’s busy streets. While the Loop won’t replace the existing public transit (like the Metro), it aims to complement it by relieving congestion and offering a high-speed option in certain corridors.

Once done, Dubai would become one of the first non-U.S. cities to deploy Musk’s Loop system — marking a major milestone in urban transit innovation. Since the only operational Loop currently built by The Boring Company is located in Las Vegas, where human-driven Tesla vehicles transport passengers between designated stations, Dubai’s project would represent a significant step forward in scaling the concept globally.
