The Success of Fazzaa’s Dubai Fitness Challenge is One for the Books
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, started the Dubai Fitness Challenge last October. He sent out messages asking people to engage in 30 minutes of physical activity for 30 days.
Sheikh Fazza had a goal in mind, to have 100,000 residents participate in the challenge, however, it seems like the royal initiative garnered much more success than expected.
Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing issued a report that stated that the number of participants was over 700,000 residents, which is 600,000 more than expected.
“The DFC was undoubtedly one of the highlights of 2017 and has made a valuable contribution to making the city more active. Throughout the challenge, and especially at the events and carnivals across the city, we saw that participation came from all parts of Dubai’s population, regardless of age, gender, and background.” Stated Mattar Al Tayer, Vice-President of the Dubai Sports Council, to Khaleej Times.
