Curfew Imposed on Stores & Restaurants in Egypt
The rumors were swirling before last Eid that President Morsi’s government would implement a curfew for stores and restaurants throughout the country! Most business owners got angry, everyone debated if it were an actual possibility then the hype died out!
In true Morsi style suspense, it has just been announced that this in fact will happen beginning November. Strict new closing times due to our “security & economic conditions” will force shops to close their doors at 10 pm and restaurants by 12 am!
There is a way about going around it though, establishments that have touristic licensees, as well as pharmacies can continue to operate normally. So breathe your 35’s and Tamarai’s are in the clear!
As for the rest of the stores, restaurants and cafes those who violate the law will face harsh penalties, or can apply for a touristic license to operate.
We Said This: This is how we see it, hello more traffic from now 9 am to 12 am will be rush hour. As for the small business’s your how can we put this kindly, SCREWED!
