On February 7 and 8, Cairo International Airport (CAI) recorded unprecedented operating figures, as it managed to receive and operate 1,397 flights in just 48 hours, underscoring the continued rapid growth in travel to and from Egypt.
On February 7, the airport handled 715 flights, serving approximately 108,300 arriving and departing passengers. International flights made up the majority of operations, totaling 564 flights.
The following day saw similarly strong performance, with CAI operating 682 flights and welcoming around 109,300 passengers. International traffic once again dominated operations, accounting for 570 flights.
Chairman and CEO of the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation (EHCAAN), Eng. Ayman Fawzy Arab stated that the continued growth in operating rates reflects the efficiency of the infrastructure and the readiness of the operational system at Cairo International Airport.
He added that this growth also highlights the airport’s capacity to accommodate high volumes of flights and passengers while maintaining smooth traffic flow within terminals and ensuring operations align with the highest standards of quality and safety.

Accountant Magdy Ishaq Azzer, Chairman of Cairo Airport Company, affirmed that in light of the high operational density, the level of standard procedures has been elevated to match the increased operating levels. This comes alongside continuous coordination among all relevant entities to ensure smooth operations and to maintain efficiency and service quality.
He also said that Cairo Airport Company continues to implement ongoing development and modernization plans for its infrastructure, in parallel with enhancing human resources efficiency. This strengthens Cairo International Airport’s pivotal position as the main gateway for travel to and from Egypt, and supports its ability to accommodate the growing number of flights with high efficiency and professionalism.
