Sure, the holy month comes with its struggles, yet we love it! I did a survey with Muslims I know from all over the world on why they loved Ramadan. Here are some of the answers.

Night becomes day, day becomes night. –Mira, from Lebanon

A lot of people answered that they love the Ramadan lifestyle in their home countries. Staying up all night, sleeping when they could during the day. Maybe that misses the purpose of the holy month but it is what it is. And it’s fun!

I lose weight. –Nadine, from Lebanon

From personal experience, Ramadan could actually make you gain weight… But if that works for you Nadine then good for you!

Makes you remember how much you have. –Yaseen, California

It’s a chance for a turning point in my life. –Farah, from Lebanon

Family gatherings. –Wassim, from Kuwait

So true. Many others said the same thing. Usually, with our busy lives we have separate meals and sometimes eat completely alone. In Ramadan, Iftar brings everyone together. I mean, even when people are fasting, they could spend time together wasting time till Maghreb.

Aside from getting together with the family, I get to go to my local masjid and pray besides my friends and break my fast with them. Plus you get to check yourself during Ramadan. –Amani, from California

It teaches me self-control. –Adam, from Canada

It brings the city to life at night. –Majida, from Lebanon

It does when you’re living in a country that has a large Muslim population. Even the Arab Christian population feels with the fasting Muslim during Ramadan.

Not crowded at the beach. –Jack, Lebanon

The empty cafeteria at work. –Layal, from Lebanon

Obeying God. –Adam, from Dubai

WE SAID THIS: Never forget why you’re fasting in the first place. It’s not to have that ah-mazing meal at the end of the day. Well, part of it is that. But it’s also being the very best version of yourself!
