Aboul Gheit to Attend UN Security Council’s Meeting
Earlier today, Sunday 18th 2017, the Secretary – General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit left Cairo for New York.

Abou El Gheit is to join the UN Security Council’s meeting this Tuesday (the 20th of June, 2017) where the council is scheduled to vote on the UN Secretary – General’s (Antonio Guterres) new candidate for the position of UN ambassador to Libya; Guterres’ nominee is former Lebanese Minister of Culture, Ghassan Salameh.

If elected, Salameh will have proceeded the current UN ambassador to Libya, German national Martin Kobler, who has held the position since mid – 2015. Given the current situation in Libya, no position seems more politically and economically critical than this one.
