This Top Ranked Thanaweyya Amma Student Was Not Congratulated…But Accused of Treason
Egyptian student Amira Iraqi got a 409.5 out of 410 and was ranked the first in the entire country. The Ministry of Education made a habit of congratulating first rankers by phone and in person, but Amira was not congratulated neither in person nor by phone.
Not only that, a few hours after the results were out, Amira was shaken by a number of complaints filed against her in the State Security Prosecution – one of them by the controversial lawyer, Samir Sabry. The complaints accused her of treason and being part of Muslim Brotherhood.
Amira’s father, Ibrahim Iraqi, has been in jail since over two years and has been given the life sentence for the same accusation. She had a conference call with Mekameleen TV channel, a channel which is considered affiliated with the Brotherhood, in which she announced that she wouldn’t accept the invitation if the Egyptian president invited her over a meeting for her success.
WE SAID THIS: In the same call, she explained that she wouldn’t meet with the president because “he is a traitor and a killer” and that we can’t turn a blind eye on the thousands of people murdered and locked up in jails.
