10 Things That Are Too Real for People Who Grew up in Damietta

(FLICKR)

Growing up in the small Egyptian city of Damietta, many things are bound to happen. You had to make do with whatever the (very limited) city offered you, whether that meant Googling how to make sushi because sushi restaurants are a foreign concept there, or knowing where each and every furniture store is because they’re literally everywhere.

Even though I now happily live abroad in the UK, I still miss a few things (the good and the bad) about Domiat, so I’ve decided to take a trip down memory lane for things all my fellow Damiettans who grew up there know to be true.
