This Female Egyptian Squash Player Just Won First Place at the Edinburgh Squash Open Championship
Our very own Squash Player Nadine Shahin, currently ranked 34th worldwide, just won the Edinburgh sports club squash open championship after beating the English Julianne Courtice.
In addition to Shahin, two more Egyptians competed in the tournament; Nada Abbas and Rowan El-Araby. El Araby put up a very exciting semifinal match but unfortunately lost to Coutice by 3-2. Abbas lost in the quarterfinals also to Coutice by 3-1, but fortunately Shahin was the one who did put an end to her Coutice’s winning streak.
Shahin’s first title was at the Geneva open in March 2014 and it was a surprise to everybody as she started the tournament as an unseeded competitor, Shahin then went out to win 4 more titles that year and started making a name for herself which put her in the top 40 players worldwide 2015 and later on in 2017 she jumped to the top 30 after a very successful year.
