An 18-month-old Palestinian toddler has been returned to his family after a reported 10-hour detention by Israeli forces in central Gaza, with medical evidence indicating signs of abuse, including what appear to be cigarette burns on his thighs.
Jawad Abu Nassar was detained on March 19 alongside his father, Osama Abu Nassar, while the two were traveling in the area. According to the family, Osama had taken his son out earlier that morning to buy sweets in preparation for Eid al-Fitr.

A subsequent medical report found that the toddler had sustained multiple injuries, including burns consistent with cigarettes, puncture wounds, and trauma caused by the insertion of a sharp metal object into his leg.
Jawad was later returned to his family through the International Committee of the Red Cross at Al-Maghazi market in central Gaza while his father remains in detention. Israeli authorities have made no official statements regarding the incident.
