Six Thousand Kilometers Across Egypt: A Young Man’s Bike Journey
You do not have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body – George MacDonald
We stumbled upon a young Egyptian man who is using his body and soul to accomplish one of his lifelong dreams which is to explore Om El Donya while riding his bicycle. Nour El-Din is a 21-year-old Mass Communication student who has always been an adventurous a person and an amazing storyteller, and thanks to his dream, he has the best stories to tell.
El-Din recently began a 6000 km bike journey to explore every corner of Egypt. He wants to go all over the country and document the beauty that Masr holds. This journey is to let the world know how magical our country is and to let us Egyptians appreciate our homeland and stop taking it for granted.
It all started in Ismailia, then he continued to cycle to Portsaid, Ras El Bar, Baltim and then shifted his trip and began heading to the North Coast where he spent time in Alexandria, El Dabaa, El Hamam, Ras El Hekma, Marsa Matrouh and Siwa. He cycled to several cities; he’s gone as far as Aswan and is currently in Hurghada. On each one of his stops, he tells the stories of the inspiring people he meets along the way, he takes photos of the stunning visuals and delicious food from all the different places he’s been to.
When we asked about what makes him do it all, he told us, “it’s all about passion. You have to follow your passion as far as you can and it’ll take you places. It might take you to a place as far as Siwa or the North Pole, it might take you to the top of Mount Everest or deep into the sea. All I know is that every day I’m meeting new people, I’m making new friends and I couldn’t be happier.”
