NYC – Empire State Shooting
Yesterday shooting at the Empire State Building has left the city of New York with yet another example of people taking the law in to their own hands. Due to the economic crunch and mass job layoffs that have occurred in the last couple years, depression, denial and a sense of resentment has lasted with many. Jeffrey Johnson, the identified gunman has a similar story, where just yesterday, dressed in a suit, briefcase walked up to his ex boss, pulled a gun and shot him 5 times in the head.
After being laid off after working for six consecutive years as a designer of women’s accessories from Hazan Import. Johnson was 58 with no job. The victim being Steve Ercolino, vice president of sales at Hazan Import was a family man and had never mentioned any issues with coworkers be it Johnson or anybody else in the company. Reports from within the company stated that both had restraining orders against one another with a lack of recognition on Ercolino’s part for Johnson’s work.
After shooting Ercolino without saying a word, Johnson quickly disappeared in to the busy crowd where he was followed by a construction worker identifying him to authorities near the Empire Sate Building. Johnson wasted no time in raising his fire arm, where he was immediately shot with multiple bullets bouncing off the stairs of the building injuring innocent bystanders trying to flee.
It has been stated that none of the injuries are life threatening yet were definitly caused by the New York authorities as Johnson did not even get a chance to fire. With Mayor Bloomburg “New York City, as you know, is the safest big city in the country, and we are on pace to have a record low number of murders this year.”
