Israeli Official: “Gaza Should Be Flattened Out & Desolated Just Like Auschwitz Camp”

On the margin of all the chaos taking place in Gaza Strip and the West Bank lies a dangerously fascist narrative of Israel’s settler colonialism. The latest of those is a statement made on a radio channel that was picked up by several news outlets, and went under the radar of another’s. The head of Israel’s Metula Council, David Azoulai has explicitly said in an interview with Ben Caspit and Yinon Magal at 103 FM that Gaza strip should be ‘desolated and destroyed’, in order to resemble polish Auschwitz concentration camp.

Azoulai’s statement echoes several others made by Zionists that ironically wants to do to the Palestinians what Hitler did to the Jewish people. History seems to be repeating itself. The head of council proposed sending all Gazans to refugee camps in Lebanon, and flattening out the Strip in its entirety, creating another Auschwitz.

He termed the Hamas attack last October on settler Zionists to be a ‘second Holocaust’ of the Jewish people. Echoing Winston Churchill’s ‘Fight them on the Beaches’ speech, Azoulai said that “After October 7, instead of urging people to go south, tell everyone to go to the beaches.” The Navy can transport them to the shores of Lebanon, where there are already sufficient refugee camps. Then, a security strip should be established from the sea to the Gaza border fence, completely empty, as a reminder of what was once there.”

For him, leaving Gaza desolate like a post apocalypse land will demonstrate the ‘madness of the people who lived there.” The Auschwitz Memorial X account commented on Azoulai’s statement saying that such call for mass murder and displacement is a transgress and violation that must be “Confronted and firmly rejected.”
