Egyptian Company Made It to the List of the World’s Top 20 AI Developers

In Egypt, the realm of AI is yet to be explored; although the rest of the tech field is doing fine, AI, in particular, has been lagging behind. However, one big data company is about to change that.

Avidbeam is a startup that was founded by a team of ex-Intel employees and engineers with a vision of extending the scope of ‘big data’ to cover not only text data but also video process analytics.

As of its launch, the company, in just a few months, made it to the CIO Review’s 2016 most impacting startups of in the field. While in 2017, it was among the top worldwide big data startups for its creative Open Video Platform that extracts real-time business intelligence information from an outstanding number of video sources.

Their projects span through the Middle East, China, and the U.S. As for their expansion, it includes video surveillance, retail, perimeter, security, and automotive industries; the latter includes a myriad of projects including self-driving cars.

“Our goal is to deliver computer vision services to the customers in all sectors in the most scalable way and using the most feasible amount of resources,” said Hani Elgebaly, Avidbeam CEO.

Last month, the company secured Egypt Ventures investment in Avidbeam technologies. “We are thrilled to work alongside Egyptian founders who have built deep tech that is globally competitive,” Heba Ali, Managing Partner of Egypt Ventures, told MENAbytes in an interview.

In an interview with Yahduth Fi Misr’s Sherif Amer sat down with two of the company’s co-founders. “The most promising market for us is in Egypt,” Amr Qais, a second Co-founder, and the company’s Strategic Affairs Vice President stated.

Avidbeam’s headquarters is in Beavertown, Oregon but has an office in Maadi, Cairo, and Dubai for its EMEA and North Africa-focused operations.

Their grandest achievement so far is that they have made it to the “20 most promising big-data startups in the world” for 2017 by CIOReview, according to Enterprise.

What Avidbeam is doing is that they are setting a precedent for startups around Egypt to follow their footsteps and add more to this ever-growing field.
