The XX Project – Meet the Ladies

The Goal:  “Two Artists, Twenty Five Canvases, One Pug and 30 Days on a mission to portray their hybrid backgrounds through art in an unorthodox fashion.”

Because Scoop Empire is cool like that, we will be starting a new column with the girls themselves taking you through their day to day journey highlighting the laughs, the tears and oh yes the art! So lets begin.

So yes these girls are on one hell of a mission, they began this project in a way that is typical of the two; haphazardly journeying like two proud eagles on a hunt, to their designated art studio every morning in an ac leaking, grumbling 1982 Wrangler Jeep (their very own Herbie) with their horney little mascot Frankie, the infamous pug who coincidentally also comes from a multinational background.

Like Bonnie and Clyde, together they collaborate and procreate paintings with that gorrilla-like oomph of creativity some may remark ‘stakhfarallah’ to in these prudish times.

By mixing pop art, realism, surrealism, abstract and impressionism, Kenzie and Dom communicate to us the nature of their nationalistic backgrounds. Between the two of them, this includes Armenia, Egypt, Italy, Spain, Lebanon, Syria and finally the USA, the one country they have in common.

Kenzie has two degrees, one in hospitality from the adventurous and savvy Les Roche, and the other in Interior and Fashion textile design from University of the Arts, London. Dominique, on the other hand, has only one degree. Nevertheless, it is in Business Administration (cum laude), from uptight, judgemental AUC.

Their aim is to simply complete a collection of paintings revolving around popular pop culture of today, or as Kenzie’s father referred to as Sex, Pop Art and Rock ‘n’ Roll, however rather than huddle in an isolated nest while they OD on red bull and cigarettes, they decided to record the drama of what it means to produce 25 works of art in an apartment situated in the desert, keeping a virtual diary to be shared with the outside world every day.

Both are superstitious, hot tempered, fiery, curious and independent young ladies, so prepare to witness an artsier version of the Blair Witch Project.
Let the story unfold…

WE SAID THIS: Young Artists At Their Best!
