Happy “sexual harassment” Eid

0

I just stepped out of the plane today coming back from Eid vacation in Bahrain, to embrace Cairo, the motherland’s capital, where its women are being harassed in a way that I have never seen before.

We just came out of the holy month, Ramadan, where people in Egypt tend to be full of pity and grace. Everyone runs a marathon of trying to complete the Quran and pray the Taraweeh and Tahagod and all that jazz…and all of a sudden: It is female body inspector alert.

The majority of men, mostly between the age of 18-35,  hurry to the streets to grab and insult the women trying to get the joy of Eid; Women, who are our mothers, sisters, cousins, wives, daughters and most importantly fellow citizens and human beings.

I do not get what men think about while doing that? Do they think they are manlier?

This phenomenon has become a real danger coming out of hand and here are some reflections and solutions for it:

1)This phenomenon happens and is not combated in the right way. There are no laws that criminalize such an outrageous act.

2)The lack of security forces on the streets allows for such acts to be done unseen. There is no one to catch the wrong doer in broad day light, how would be then in the darkest nights?

3)Men, specifically this age, between 18-35, are ought to be the future of this country. They are supposed to be the ones exerting all their efforts to rise with our nation. But how, when they do not know how to behave in a manly fashion.

There is a dare need to find a socio-political solution for this crime. Sexual harassment is equal to rape.

To all the women out there, I tell you do not worry. You are the reason we men exist, and if we cant keep you safe, then we do not deserve living. You consist 75%, in my humble opinion, of society in the whole world. You nurture generations.

Therefore, I call on our president to make use of his legislative power, not that I favor that he holds it or anything, and issue a law that criminalizes sexual harassment. Instead of using Sharia Law to argue that people who are going out on demonstrations on the 24th of Sep. 2012 are outlaws and should be killed, how about using Sharia Law for its right purpose, and preserve society from a dreadful crime?

As for men who take a chance to grab and insult women. How would you like it if I chopped your balls off? Ha? Stop harassing before you are in the wrong hands my friend. Be a man. Not an animal.
