Ad-Dicted: Chipsy Brings Out the Dark Side

Chipsy has come out with their latest campaign giving everyday Egyptians the opportunity to get their hands on their oh so desired favorite bag of chips, but there is a catch! The only way you can get the bag, is if you manage to get past the vending machine.

Now that you saw it, you can imagine the reaction that has been circling online in the forums from viewers about the campaign.

Most feel that the commercial highlights the barbaric, uncivilized tendencies of the Egyptian population, highlighting their eagerness to be destructive and act like hooligans. We seem to have to agree, although the vending machine does specifically imply “that once you find a way to get to the chips, you can have them” but this seems like awful timing.

With all that is happening in the country, with all the aggression, angst and criminal incidents that are circling Egypt, this only seems to highlight it and encourage it.

We Said This: The message that should be sent out is one of peace and encouragement for better ethics and actions by the Egyptian citizens, not to give them a bigger platform to act out on!
