In Pictures: Celebrating Egypt’s Natural Heritage
In a recent statement, the Egyptian Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad has announced that Monday, the 27th of January is to mark Egypt’s National Environment Day. The day has been selected for two reasons: firstly, it marks the first environmental law issued in Egypt 1994, and secondly, because January is the international month of afforestation, which is the process of planting new trees to combat climate change.
“Afforestation is the fastest and cheapest way to confront air pollution and climate change impacts and conserve natural resources,” Fouad explained in a previous statement.
The government is exerting tremendous effort to combat pollution and other environmental issues such as waste management and plastic pollution.
