An unbelievably graceful Rima Baransi has taken the internet by storm with an enchanting performance on the streets of Trieste, Italy. The shy ballerina was begged by her father Assad to perform to a violinist playing a rendition of “Comptine d’un autre été: L’Après-Midi” by Yann Tiersen; the result was amazing.

The 20-year-old dancer and choreographer from Jerusalem began her performing career at the age of eight, when her father and mother (a former dancer) enrolled her in contemporary dance classes. Baransi attended Charles E. Smith Jerusalem High School for the Arts and Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, which led her to begin her professional career in 2012, performing with Sareyyet Ramallah. She went on to train at DanceWorks in Berlin, Germany.

The young dancer has inspired us all as she follows her dreams as a Palestinian woman in what our society considers an orthodox career. We hope to see Baransi upping her game, whether it’s on the street or center stage, as she inspires our inner-dancer and young Arab girls around the world to dance proudly.
