Getting Kryptic With Nacelle’s Elijah Collins

thekyrptnacelle
Halloween’s coming up and all of Cairo’s ghouls and goblins (or sexy cats and slutty pirates) are getting ready to come creeping out.

We chat with house guru Elijah Collins ahead of Nacelle‘s Oct. 31 bash on the Omar Khayyam boat about partying in Egypt, “shit that makes you go uhhh” and more…

With Halloween just around the corner and everyone pumped for your upcoming Nacelle gig, can you tell us what you have prepared up your sleeves? What kind of set can people expect?

Well, I’ve been looking for tunes with a sinister edge, which I will drop on the night. I also spent two hours looking for and and maximising horror samples. I’m not gonna lie, after an hour of compressing nothing but loud horrific sounds, I was left feeling a little disturbed!

We’re pretty sure this will be by far one of the most happening Halloween parties in the city, what kind of Kryptic costume do you have planned?

You’ll have to wait and see on the night, but I’ll say this: Nacelle do not do things by half measures so expect something epic!

What do you think about Egypt’s nightlife?

This is my thrid trip to Cairo. The first was during a time of major protest and change. The second was midway through the change when you guys had the curfew in place. And now I’m back.

It really feels like, in a small way, I’ve been part of what has been happening, which makes the Nacelle gigs the most meaningful parties I’ve ever played for and the result is probably two of the best international gigs I’ve ever done. You guys sure know how to dance for a release! So I’m very excited about this one.

Your bio is quite descriptive! So what do you consider that “shit that makes you go uhhh”?

That shit that makes you want to screw your face put your head down and dance, either that or it makes you swear with excitement.

Where do you get your musical inspiration from? Any specific musicians you look up to?

My inspiration comes from anywhere. At the moment, I’m writing tracks born from a situation, i.e. my Logic X not working properly or something that’s either annoyed me or made me happy.

As for artists, the list is far too long to write down as I’m about to board the plane, but the list and style is long and ever changing

Last but not least tell us your most whack experience at a Halloween party? Crazy costume?

Halloween on a boat a few years ago was my most messed up experience, it was a party that I can’t go into detail about as there may be kids reading! I’m actually trying to forget it!

WE SAID THIS: Check out Nacelle on Facebook and Instagram.
