RTA Starts Testing Driverless Smart Vehicles in Dubai

A month ago we wrote about driverless vehicles that are plan to take over Dubai in 2030, which is why it took us by surprise when we bumped into this video on Twitter that was posted by The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) that shows a driverless smart vehicle in Downtown Dubai moving…by itself.

With the help from Emaar Properties, the RTA has started a trial run of autonomous 10-seater car that shuttled over a 700 metre-long track. The vehicle travels on virtual routes, which can easily be reset to accommodate sudden changes as required. Phew, that makes us feel a whole lot better.  Not only that, it is also fitted with all safety requisites and controls specifying its planned route.

WE SAID THIS: The future is pretty cool, and very, very scary.
