El Baredei Resigns As VP of Foreign Affairs

In recent news Mohamed ElBaredei resigned as his position of Egypt’s Vice President of Foreign Affairs. Stating that he could not take responsibility for decisions he did not believe in, in his resignation letter to Interim President Adly Mansour. The ex VP said that “the beneficiaries of what happened today are those who call for violence, terrorism and the most extreme groups.”

ElBaredei has been a big part of Egyptian politics since the revolution becoming more involved in times more then others, he was welcomed back with the high position of VP of Foreign Affairs after the ousting of Egyptian President Muhamed Morsy.

Having said that ElBaredei has made it very clear that he wants no part of what has happened today stating that “there were more peaceful ways” to solve the country’s crisis.

“As you know, I saw that there were peaceful ways to end this clash in society, there were proposed and acceptable solutions for beginnings that would take us to national consensus,” Reuters quoted him saying in his letter.

It has been said that although ElBaredei is an asset to the transition of Egyptian government, that his decision will not stand in the way of the political road map to come.

With a new curfew in place from 7pm to 6am, Egypt’s crack down is said to continue till all is resolved and peace has been brought back to the streets.
