Egyptian Campaign Encourages People to Stop Smoking in the Most Inspiring Way
A group of young Egyptians started a social media campaign with the hashtag #Ermeha (throw it) to help and encourage smokers to quit. The campaign aims to raise awareness on the side effects and dangers of smoking, and also shows support to smokers who want to quit.
The campaign uses various methods in their posts to help smokers in their quest to quit, such as including non-smokers and how second-hand smoking is dangerous.
The kind of posts that went viral were of people who successfully quit smoking, holding signs of the number of days they spent free of cigarettes with the #Ermeha hashtag.
The posts are very inspiring because you can see people who have only quit for one day, and others who have quit for years.
The campaign is supported by the Egyptian Health Foundation and the International Federation of Medical Students Associations.
