Cloud Eggs: How to Make the Latest Instagram Breakfast Trend

Instagramming your breakfast is nothing new; in fact, it is the new normal. You’ve probably posted a mouthwatering snap of melted cheese on your sandwich, or maybe you’ve even made a Boomerang of a knife piercing a poached egg to release the bright orange goodness inside. Moral of the story is we love Instagramming food.

I was inspired by @toastsforall this morning. // Homemade lemon iced tea and avocado ? toast for breakfast.

It has been a while since we’ve come across a new Instagram food trend: 2016 was the year of the avocado toast and chia seeds but it seems 2017 belongs to the cloud egg. What’s a cloud egg? The new breakfast trend sees people making fluffy, cloud-like egg whites with the yolk served in the middle to represent the sun.

Though they may look difficult to make, these fluffily little adorbz creations are much easier than you might think.

All you actually need to do is first separate the egg white from the yolk. The egg white is then whipped, just like making a meringue but without the sugar. Add this to a baking tray, make sure you put a small hole in the middle for the yolk to sit in later, and bake in the oven at around 230°C for five minutes.

Once baked, add the yolk to the middle and cook for a few more minutes until ready. It really is that simple, you can also fold extras into the whipped egg whites, think cheese, smoked turkey, (haram) bacon.

WE SAID THIS: You’re welcome.
