Burj Khalifa Replaces Fireworks This NYE With “Nothing You’ve Seen Before” Light Show

We’re getting closer to New Year’s Eve and we all started making plans already. However, if you’re plans included going to see the fireworks in Dubai Downtown when the clock strikes 12, then sorry to tell you but they’re not setting the sky on fire this year. No need to worry though, they just decided  to do things differently this year.

Burj Khalifa is one the most iconic landmarks worldwide, that’s also well known for the best location to be on NYE. People from all around the world anticipate the fireworks spectacle that takes place there every year. This year though the organizers promised a spectacle like “nothing you’ve seen before.” Emaar recently announced through the Downtown Dubai Instagram account that this year there will be a spectacular light show instead of the traditional fireworks.

Not much has been revealed but the expected light choreography, or ‘Light Up 2018’  as it’s being called, will be taking over Dubai Downtown’s famous buildings that night. Seems like they’re trying to keep it a secret by not saying much about it, but lucky for everyone a video got released showing just a sneak peek. The light show was being experimented discretely on the 21th of December at 2:00 am and Gulf News managed to get it on camera.

As much as this is exciting, as much as it might upset some of us. So if you’re old-school and would still prefer to gaze at the sky and watch the stunning fireworks, no need to frown. You can still do by heading to Atlantis The Palm or Burj Al Arab instead. Just make sure to arrive early for either spectacle as it’s definitely going to be packed.

WE SAID THIS: Goodbye 2017, hello 2018!
