Planning birthdays for kids in Egypt nowadays is just as hectic as planning an engagement party. The amount of money parents spend is absurd. Just like almost everything else, it has turned into an opportunity to show off; it is not about the children anymore because I am quite sure they don’t even understand what a 2000 LE candy table is.
Long gone are the days of inviting a couple of school mates, ordering two pizzas from Pizza Plus and buying a half chocolate/half fruits cake. Now we have a candy table with a theme, trampolines, magicians, DJs, a dog show, costumes, dancers and a buffet that doesn’t include salizone.
As a parent, I think it is easy to compromise in all of the previously mentioned extravagances due to a vast range of prices and suppliers. However, the worst part is always finding a convenient location for your family and everyone invited.
