  Ramascoops: Vodafone's Yafta

Vodafone has really outdone themselves this Ramadan. First we introduced to you their first ad which we all loved explicitly. But we left this one till the end, because we really wanted to know how will it end. And we gotta say, we're not sure. Everybody saw the 6 copy ad talking about the 12 Piaster Signage (Yafta) for Vodafone. An Ad featuring a lot of Egypt's most prominent celebrities such as Farouk El Feshawy, his son Ahmed El Feshawy, Samir Ghanim, Sami El Adl, Mohamed Mounir, Sawsan Badr, Mama Karima and her son Moataz El Demerdash.

The idea behind the ad is that all these celebrities are joining to shoot the ad and while shooting is going on the decor falls on them creating mass hysteria and so the 6 copies revolve around that plot. This kind of celebrity endorsement has been seen before 2 years ago also in Ramadan with Etisalat's TV ad which featured Ahmed Ezz, Yousra, Mohammed Mounir, Ezzat Abou Auf and Donia Samir Ghanim.

We are kind of indifferent about this one, some people liked it, some dont get it, and some hated it. You tells how you feel. Here are all the 6 copies of the Ad: -

  Ramascoops: CONO

There has been an explosion of chips brands in the Egyptian market in the past 2-3 years. It all started out with Rotato's entrance to the market, becoming the first brand to compete with Chipsy which took the reign of the Chips market in Egypt for decades upon decades.

Lately we have seen a lot of new brands to hit the market and they're all advertising! Heavily! One brand that really caught the attention of many is Cono. You might remember them by the crazy Do It Yourself ad submission competition they had that went viral for a while on youtube. Mnay great copries came out of that one. This Ramadan is there back but with a more joyful/inspirational message more than humorous.

Playing on the popular sites around Egypt and turning them into amusement park games such as a ferris wheel, merry go rounds etc. Turning normal places into happy ones with Cono :) See if you recognize the voice over in the ad! and tell us who you think it is?

WE SAID THIS: Very nicely done...But why released so late in Ramadan?

  RamaScoops: Nescafe Rich

Ahmed Mekky's second installment for the Nescafe ads is out. I don't know if it's my love for his movies or his ability to transform into any character, but i actually cracked up when watching this.

It also maybe that my brain cells have died throughout the month of Ramadan and my sense of humor along with it, if you are amongst the walking dead like myself, you will probably find this funny too.

We Said This: Part two definitely > Part one!

WE SAID THIS: Great Work! We love it either way!

  RamaScoops: Spread The Halawa

I'm torn by this ad, a part of me wants to say it's actually quite funny and another part of me wants to force a laugh. I can't seem to pinpoint why?

The dialogue between the officers and the ticking time bomb guy is actually quite hilarious in terms of his last dying wishes, but i don't necessarily see the relevance between the product and the storyline (yes yes the man's dying wish was to give him the Halawa spread) but still it is a bit cliche in my eyes and meaningless.

What i do love is the recognizable face of one of the Police officers, keep an eye out for him, as he'll be opening one of Cairo's hottest restaurants very soon!

We Said This: Quirky, but cliche, we're on the fence with this one!

  RamaScoops: Galaxy TakeOver!

It seems that there are more players that entered the game towards the end of the second week of Ramadan. Just launched 2 days ago is the Galaxy ad which is coming out with a very strong message directed at men!! Playing on their concept of "love for chocolate" the woman is describing all the situations that annoy her in a relationship and saying how galaxy helps her with that.

I love it, simple and to the point and a great change of scenery from the old serene silk fabric flying around the very modernly furnished room ads we're used to. Check it out here: -

I hope there is another copy of this, but time will only tell us.

  RamaScoops: Mobinil Sings for Egypt

Mobinil has been a very musical corporation when it comes to their ads, every Ramadan they grace us with a jingle, tune or like this year a song. Well as you all know, Egypt has been torn by its political atmosphere for the past year and half, and their has been many controversies, conspiracies and ideologies altering our perception of Egypt and its people.

I've always said this and always will, Egyptians are a vast bunch, I mean religions, ethnic groups and origins. You cant really generalize on 7000 years of history on this land. And that's what I liked about this ad/song as it brings together all the different social and ethnic groups and blends them together using their different styles in music and entertainment under one unity of the song and metaphorically the country.

Check it out here: -

WE SAID THIS: Good Job Mobinil! Although we cant say the same about using jingles/songs by another company (you all know what I'm talking about)...
