Mobile Apps to Keep You on Track

I love my phone! Actually you can call me a phone addict. From checking my email, to social networking and of course using Whatsapp. But, there is a lot more you can do than that.

Thanks to the amazing new apps that are being created everyday, now you can use your phone as a personal trainer, calorie-counter and even offering some healthy eating tips.

Check out some of the highest rated apps for Android and IOS:

MyFitnessPal (Free – IOS & Android)

This is actually my favorite fitness app! I personally use it DAILY to track my progress. With more than 2 million foods in its database and 300 free exercises, this app has got it all. Making your own recipe? No worries! You can enter them and calculate their nutritional content. You can even scan the barcode of a food to know all the nutritional facts you need. My favorite part is that you can track your progress, set your goal and track your measurements. Also, you can sync it all on the web to check them online and for backup. I couldn’t ask for more.

This app is highly reviewed on Google Play, and an editor’s pick from both PC Magazine & Wired.

Endomondo (Free & Paid – IOS & Android)

You can either download this app for free or get the PRO one. This app will let you track outdoor sports (running, cycling or skiing). If you get the pro app, you can have a time goal, coach goal and even a customized audio coach, and you can even race your friends! But, the best tip is: getting an interval program or customize your own. Just like MyFitnesspal, you can track your progress online by signing up on their website.

The pro app is an editor’s pick on Google Play

Diet Point (Free & Paid- IOS & Android)

Don’t know what to eat? Diet point offers a high variety of diet plans. The free app gives you 55 plans while paid app gives you 150, or you can just make your own plan with more than 500+ tips. Also, it comes with BMI,  BMR  and weight tracker.

Best tip: reminding you with your meals!

Remember those apps won’t do the workouts for you; however, they can definitely motivate you and keep you on track.

  Echoer: Thoughts That Count

There is definitely an influx of mobile apps, websites and social media services going on around us all the time. But rarely comes along one that grabs your attention. Well this one does.

Echoer, an iPhone/iPad application that was launched in Canada earlier this year allows users to post and experience local thoughts, events and discoveries. What does that mean? Picture this. Twitter and Foursquare merged together and way more, people's thoughts along with their location telling you about what's going on around you.

OK, I know what you're thinking, redundant, right, but no. Echoer has been designed to be elegant and easy to use. The visual nature of the platform makes it quick and simple to find out relevant, timely, and popular recommendations, news and opinions about local restaurants, bars, gigs and events – wherever people gather to share ideas and experiences.

“Echoer is an app for anyone who’s tired of reading old and out-of-date comments, and who truly wants to engage in the local conversation. With Echoer they can find out, in an intuitive and enchanting way, what real people are saying in real-time about places, events and issues near them,” said Daniel Cowen, co-founder and CEO of Echoer.

As well as posting their own thoughts, known as ‘Echoes’, users can amplify others’ recommendations and discoveries, helping the Echoer service identify the most relevant and popular posts in a given place or area. Echoer takes this into account, together with timeliness and locality, displaying the most relevant Echoes on a local map.

When exploring your local area, the most popular and up to date content is displayed more frequently and prominently on the screen, and when you enter a specific place you are able to see a striking visualization of the echoes within that place, moving around in real-time as they vie for prominence against one and other.

Check out their teaser video below, it'll give you a better idea of I'm talking about.

You can download the app on the App Store here. Let's start using this, sure sounds like its gonna be a hit.
