While I was attempting to find out what’s going on in Cairo these days, I have heard here and there about Trio and its exquisite ambience that is soon to open its doors in Zamalek. I’ve been honored to interview Mr. Rawy Rizk, one of the owners, and know all I need to know about the breathtaking design, original venue and mouthwatering food.

We gave you a scoop before about the idea behind the name Trio (based on the fact that they are 3 owners) and about the chef who came straight from Los Angeles to cook us delicious and diverse meals. Her name is Jane Hernandez and she has come to offer us a 50-items-menu that Mr. Rawy calls an “International Fusion”. Everything is promised to be different from ideas for new dishes, high quality to affordable prices. Mr. Rawy recommended an appetizer called “Coconut Shrimp”, one of the many dishes I’m already craving!

As for the exotic architecture of the place, ‘Diago’, owned by Mr. Ramy Makram, is behind this great creation of a unique and modern design, same company that designed Amici Zamalek, Amici Sahel and the soon to open Amici Heliopolis. Do you know what’s even more awesome about Trio? It’s the fact that its opening hours are going to be from 7:00 am to 1:00 am! This means they’re serving breakfast! Yummy!

Well, Trio sounds perfectly different to me!

In a quant little town called Zamalek opened yet another restaurant! or what we here at Scoop have dubbed (Food Boutiques). In the last couple months we have watched more and more mini eateries open up and it only makes sense that a place dedicated to healthy eats would be next in line.

Good Cals has opened on 32 Shagaret El Dor, right before the notorious Pub 28. The focus and entire concept is based on good calories! Although its design and interior has obviously been influenced by another new frozen yoghurt store that seems to be opening up like Starbucks on every corner. We actually love it!

Their menu is simple and to the point. You have a mixture of different healthy eats ranging from different types of Sandwiches and Salads with the option of a fresh juice or quick refreshment to compliment your quick meal

The perk is that you get to see the number of calories your consuming as that is stamped right next to each dish on the menu! 

Price range goes from about 12 LE for a coffee to mid 20's to mid 30's for a salad or sandwich. 

Their catch phrase is "Guilt-free Food" and personally we welcome it and encourage the new trend, keep 'em coming Cairo or should I say Zamalek... hmmmm

Not only do you get to eat the gourmet Hot Dogs in Zamalek now, but the Dawgs have made their way to City Stars!

So while strolling the mall, make sure to stop by the New Extensions food court and get your hands on the yummy dogs and let us know what you think?

In a quaint little town, known as Zamalek lies an unknown little eatery that goes by the name of Zooba! Ok scratch that you all have probably heard about it if not frequented it more than us!

That being said we thought it was necessary to mention the new eatery. Just by driving by 26th of July street, if the bright blue doors, and hand painted tree don't catch your attention and tempt you to go in, your probably a blind and if you are, you can't be reading this..so back to the point..

Try the homemade dips, especially with the funky colored pita bread, the hawawshi is to die for, while the Koshary may have been luke warm but it hit the spot. (Note we mentioned to the owner the Koshary's lack of heat and he took note and it has been fixed Hurray!) And since i'm a markateer, i really have to say the attention to detail when it came to the design work is impeccable...BRAVO it has caught our attention! 

You will surely feel like your in a little piece of New York with an Egyptian spin!
